Launching EEEEEEEE Records.
(Is this phase three of Lumpy Gravy?)
Howdy, all! It gives me a hubba-hubba feeling to announce that my new label for reissuing lost bits of genius from the 1980's cassette underground is READY TO GO, my first five releases are a done deal, daddy-o.
Everybody knows how exciting the peer-to-peer DIY network for distributing underground music coulda been, shoulda been and maybe was, right? If not, ask your parents. Tons of cool stuff so far under the radar that even the most dedicated person could only have uncovered a fraction of it... And here we have five wonderful examples of that very phenomenon, newly transferred from the original cassettes to modern cdRs in the full-fidelity, no-loss .wav format; all EEEEEEEE titles are limited to 500 copies or ONE (1) year in print, whichever comes first. Except for Harry Zantee, no limitations on the pressing size for that one.
EXPLODING HEAD TRICK - S/T. 6.00.
1989, Minneapolis USA. A genuine lost-classic of new-wavey prog-rock, it's total RIO and it's totally impressive. Completely unlike anything else I can think of.
FACE IN THE CROWD - Sax And Drums And Rock And Roll 6.00
UK, 1985. Angular, sophisticated high-verbal-content The Fall style rant-and-roll plus experimental, soundscape space-rock bits that remind me of Glaxo Babies. FITC are available as a FREE DOWNLOAD, in the degraded, inferior mp3 format, if you go HERE: www.box.net/shared/r0z71kxnf1 . Or you can buy the official artefact and bask in the fidelity and richness of authentic .wav reproduction .
GIRLS ON FIRE - Girls Who Grew Up To Be Arts Administrators, the GIRLS ON FIRE Story 5cdR set 15.00.
Leslie Singer was an orig. member of PSYCHODRAMA, but she runned away early in their career; this is what she did immediately afterwards. Phenomenal no-life art-school anti-music, some of the most barbaric guitar skronk ever. This cdR set collects five tapes she made between 1983 and 1985, includes live sets from Deaf Club and incidental participation by Psychodrama themselves on the 4th disc. Plus a prank call by Brett to a woman I used-a hang out with.
SONS OF BITCHES - Death To Music 6.00
Providence RI, USA, 1986. All the usual elements of basement-experimental '80's music are here. Well, many of them. Vocal samples from TV and radio, silliness, rudimentary electronic manipulations & massages, silliness... It sorta reminds me of Little Fyodor/Walls Of Genius material from that same period; if you've ever come across them, you'll gnow what to expect. Did I mention how jokey & light-hearted it is? Silliness. Ralph fans, get in line.
HARRY ZANTEE - Sleep 6.00
Australia, 1984. Harry Z was a member of the first version of Crime And The City Solution, the version which fell apart when the frontman left Australia and took his band name with him. This here is a luscious, trippy, Tangerine Dream sounding synth trance, two 20-minute pieces.
You can hear samples of all the above here: www.box.net/shared/7pfajepkds .
PAYMENT INSTRUCTIONS: Paypal or surface mail, e-mail me offlist for info. Postage for normal-sized packages will be 2.00/USA or 5.00/Europe, Asia y A.L.
WHOLESALE PRICES: on request.
If you show me credentials as a REVIEWER, I'll be sending out a handful of PROMO COPIES to folks what am interested. Blastitude and Perfect Sound Forever are on my list, who else...?
ONLINE DOWNLOADS: In the future, these may be available through itunes, not yet. If you want to download mp3.s for yourself, e-mail me offlist and we'll work something out; I'll price it cheaper than itunes rates.
If you're a label or a distro, I'm open to trading merch. If you're not a label or a distro, I'll consider certain kinds of trade offers, but I'll be very selective. Old 45.s would work best, mainly 60's garage, early punk/hc or rockabilly.
