they're the grand dads of the revival with their first 45 (a sonics cover) issued in '73. DMZ came next . To me DMZ always sounded more punk than garage revival . Nah, definitely a garage band. Less mannered and less worried about "exactness" than most of the 70s-into-80s bands, which is why they were generally better. Morlocks were good, a little more blown-out than most others around the time, but still used "the formula." Also dig the Green Telescope ep (they eventually became the Thanes, who I think are still around).

Saw them at their NYC debut at Irving Plaza with The Fuzztones and Tryfles and they were amazing!! Saw them about a year or 2 later and had to leave....sounded like they were trying to be on a major label...Non-inspired and boring show, same as their records from around that time. Paula was in the band from beginning to end, but she musta been listening to the wrong people after the first LP.

Pick up The Vipers' Outta The Nest (their first record). Also, The Fuzztones' Leave Your Mind At Home live LP, as well as their 45, Bad News Travels Fast. The Telltale Hearts would be good, too. The Stems. The Milkshakes. The first Creeps' LP. The Lyres' _On Fyre_ and _AHS 1005_ (with Buried Alive and In Motion), which I think you can get on one CD. If you like the folk rock vibe, go for The Optic Nerve.
